Who do you tell when you wake up in the morning and find a severed head on the beach at your resort? For frustrated former crime reporter Jim Jury, that means action. With the support of her former cop grandfather, she’s going to find out how the poor man got where he is – and why.

Jim Juri is a former journalist who lives with her family in southern Thailand on the Gulf of Thailand. Her mother sold their family home in Chiang Mai and bought an abandoned bungalow hotel with 5 cabins. Jimm is walking her two dogs on the beach when one of them finds a head. She tells her grandfather. The police are notified. But they turn to SRM (Southern Rescue Mission Foundation), a charity scam organization.
Jimm thinks something is strange and starts to investigate. She also has to deal with two mysterious guests who pay in cash, give fake names, and remove the license plates from their car.

There are lines in this book with strange characters that make you laugh. Grandpa is a retired traffic cop. Jim has a transgender sister who is a techie. She also has an intimidating brother, Arnie, who is actually a gentle, shy man in love with a female construction worker older than his mother.

The way this group of characters solve the case of the chairman makes for an enjoyable story as they navigate the complex issues of corruption and police/government incompetence.

The author’s bio states that he was born in London and worked as a teacher in Israel, Australia, the United States, and Japan before moving to Thailand. He dedicated this book to Thailand’s lounge and karaoke singers who boldly attack English songs phonetically without suffering from the awkwardness of the content.
